Some people feel anxious or nervous about their dental visits. We want to make sure your visit is comfortable and free from anxiety. You have a variety of options available to you through sedation dentistry.
Anti anxiety pills can help you relax during procedures. They may be given before or during the dental visit.
Intravenous sedation involves the use of medication given intravenously, usually in a vein in the arm, to achieve a relaxed, sedated state in which you are less aware of what is taking place. You are awake, breathing and swallowing on your own.
The sedative effects of both of the above medications may last for several hours so it is necessary to have someone drive you to and from the office. The agents provide what is called “conscious sedation,” which means that when they are administered to you, you feel drowsy but awake and responsive.
One of our team is always with you and your vital signs are monitored during the entire visit. You are never alone.
As a patient, your role is to discuss treatment options, fears and concerns so that we can fully address your needs.
Discuss the risks and benefits of each anesthetic option.
